SIBARIS PUENTE AEREO (AIRLIFT) BAR is part of the SIBARIS franchise whose headquarters are located in Cartagena, Manizales and Pereira. SIBARIS are places where wine culture and its multiple companions as an alternative to other liquors consumption are fomented. This crucial fact is with the aim of familiarizing the country with the wine consumption.

The franchise designs have been made involving the creation of spaces and both unique and remarkable elements of wine culture.

The Shop of extremely reduced dimensions, barely 16 m2, 3.60 MT to 4.60 MT depth x width, shows a particular challenge in its design. But, ¿How is it possible to include all the needed operational features and at the same time create a space in which it’s likely to enjoy wine with comfort and pleasure in such a small place?

SIBARIS is presented as an encounter between tradition and modernity.
Traditional elements from their breathing space qualities and…
Modern elements from their functional qualities

SIBARIS is conceived as a “modern cellar” recapturing the essence and space values of the traditional wine cellar such as symmetry, depth, light and size. This with the drift of creating an environment in which all the components of the program are set. Starting from an absolute personalization in their design, those elements are created:

From the bar containing all the operational elements such as the lawn mower of cold cuts, the scale, the water and milk heating, the microwave and the sink right up to the design of refrigerators, chairs and cellars.

Consequently, these elements represented an interdisciplinary collaboration between industrial design and both electronic and mechanic engineering. Besides, that was the base of establishing a dialogue in which all the main design aspects were focused on a modern understanding of the functional qualities of the elements.

Thus, the game between the contrasting tradition and modernity reaches its synthesis with a symmetrically distributed program. Therefore, at the center lies the work area and at the two corners (extremes) lie the exhibition area and consumption. Articulating both functions appears the service area with a bar. In the same way, the qualities of symmetry and depth in the design intend to generate a feeling of spaciousness and space comfort

Besides when the users are faced by means of the central bar; the place turns into a site(place) of constant and active social interaction between(among) known and unknown persons.
