Burberry - Global Headquarters
London, 160,000 sq ft
Originally a government building, Horseferry House’s impressive façade and expansive interiors encapsulate business aspirations of Burberry and proved ideal for the consolidation of the firm’s five offices into one cohesive workplace.
Overseen by Burberry Creative Director, Christopher Bailey, design and photo studios, executive suites, showrooms for high profile visitors and buyers as well as workplaces for all the diverse departments, mirror the Burberry design philosophy and the luxury fashion house’s approach to quality, innovation and style.
Energy efficiency programs include internal halide lighting which automatically adjusts to outside light and switch off automatically when rooms/offices are unoccupied. Burberry continues its recycling program, moving towards a paper-free environment.
State of the art video conferencing facilities are present in meeting rooms to facilitate communication between Burberry offices/ hubs in London, Hong Kong, Japan and New York. The entire building is wireless and acoustic sound proofing is used throughout.
Built in 1910, the interior is designed to accommodate modern features whilst maintaining the integrity of the original structure. The striking architectural ornamentation was restored and the beams exposed to create an open and elegant interior. Show rooms at the lower ground and ground levels display the latest Burberry collections with additional samples stored in sophisticated and easily accessible furniture solutions. The workplaces on the following floors are adapted to support the requirements for staff, providing a neutral backdrop to set off their latest creations.
The new headquarters unifies the creativity of the brand, fostering communication between departments and collaboration between staff in a highly functional space that reinforces the Burberry vision. Recognised as a home of the company’s values, it has become a beacon for future designs of stores and offices.
